I released this project anonymously on my Dad's birthday in 2022 under the alias Ghostwood Fold. I'm shocked on how many people ended up hearing it with no promotion! Since it's now in the first round of the DMAs for Outstanding Jazz Recording, I thought it's time to release it to my friends, peers and colleagues.
In early 2022, I started a deeper study of Jazz changes on the guitar. I was gifted a beautiful vintage Martin 00-28c which really inspired me. As I was getting more into the style, I began to construct my own ideas, and wanted to twist them into something that is a little more "me" but still really outside the box, hence Ghostwood Fold was formed.
All compositions and instruments are written and performed by me. Everything is a live take. No samples, comps, edits, software synths or Midi. No additional EQ or compression was added to anything after the cutting room floor. All transition sounds were recorded on an iPhone throughout my travels.
Nylon Acoustic, Acoustic Bass, Fender Strat, 12 String Acoustic, Baldwin Upright Piano, Hammond Organ, Mellotron Micro, Korg Microsynth, Detroit Custom Drums. Recorded, Mixed and Mastered at The Scramble Shack.
The EP is five songs in total and available on all streaming platforms. It's meant to be listened to as one continual piece of music, so this is the full cut of "Talking to Dinosaurs". Hope you enjoy!
